Listen: Rachel Zeffira covers MBV

An absolutely stunning rendition from one half of recent EYOE-faves Cat’s Eyes.

Blonde Redhead Playlist

We have the brilliant Blonde Redhead playing in Manchester and London in the first week of September. To celebrate here is a short video-guide to the storied band.

Remix: Walls x Holy Other

To call this a remix would perhaps not be entirely correct.  Holy Other has changed this summery-dance number almost beyond recognition and given it his signature dark and atmospheric makeover.

Listen to it for yourself HERE.

Listen: Boom Bip

Boom Bip releases his new album ‘Zig Zaj’ on September 26, but track “All hands,” which shall be on the new album, is already available to stream via SoundCloud.  We can’t wait for the whole record and the chance to see it live!

Listen: Foreign Office

On October 18, Foreign Office play for us at The Shacklewell Arms to celebrate the release of their EP ‘Alaska’ the day before.  Whilst it may be a while until we can get our hands on the record and hear it played live, we can already stream it over on their website to our heart’s content.

Listen HERE.

First Listen: Slow Club – Paradise

Slow Cousins – The record tears out of the blocks with ‘Slow Cousins’. Rebecca sounding especially fierce on this spikey, dramatic little number.

If We’re Still Alive – Another pretty anthemic moment, builds slowly to a last chorus of ‘If We’re Still Alive’ and it becomes quite life affirming.

Never Look Back – Record turns low-key with some gorgeously sunny harmonies and lackadaisical guitar picking.

Where I’m Waking – Another fully-formed pop gem, the bass adding a new dimension before a chorus that kind of reminds us of Yeah Yeah Yeahs at their most fun.

Hackney Marsh – A place where on a Sunday you can find people playing football, walking dogs, apparently find some fairly rare wildlife and now a charming acoustic ditty by Slow Club.

Beginners – Airy, anthemic number with huge drums pounding. Can’t to see this one live.

You, Earth Or Ash – Folkier turn with some frayed electronics that make a nice, slightly different look for the band.

Gold Mountain – Another more gentle effort, with some nice glacial chords joining in about halfway through. Phones in the air for this.

The Dog – Some glassy guitars and rhythmic bass make this one a nicely propulsive late-album cut.

Horses Jumping – Almost orchestral, lovely strings and piano. Perfect closing track for a record we imagine will be high on our end of year list.
