Check out a new Gold Panda improvisation as part of a new Kompakt compilation. It’s a bit noisier than what we’ve come to expect but quite interesting to hear him in a different context. The rest of the set is great too.
Novella
Novella just released their first single on the so-far so-excellent Dirty Bingo Records (We’re also big fans of Clout!). They are also getting some radio love from the likes of XFM and they play for us at a special gig at Rich Mix on Saturday, we’re looking forward to hearing a bit more from them.
FAMY
FAMY or Family as they were previously known (or unknown) have been quietly filling the void of the internet with great, sparse EPs with a Zeppelin-esque roman numeral titling system. Each of them is well worth a listen and you can hear the band growing in confidence. We’re looking forward to catching the mysterious group alongside Novella at the aforementioned show.
Here’s an Autumn playlist for a pretty Autumnal day here in London. We have so many exciting shows coming up and it is way easier, and more fun to put the artists together in a playlist like this than simply tell you some dates. So take a listen or watch and click around the website for dates/tickets for the shows that take your fancy!
Welcome to a new regular spot on the Eat Your Own Ears blog, every Monday we’ll bring you some brand new sounds that are bubbling under.
First up…
Arthur Beatrice – So new that you can’t even hear any songs – a lone teaser video makes up the oeuvre of AB so far, we’ve heard a couple of tunes and can guarantee that these guys will be setting the bar pretty high for next year. T he band have been impressing at their own ‘Open Assembly’ shows and we have snagged them to support Metronomy at the Royal Albert Hall.
Social Pipe – These guys are from France and we stumbled across their track ‘Legion’ last week. Take a listen below and swoon at their electronic chops:
We’re big fans of this new tune from Four Tet’s recent Fabriclive mix and glad to hear that this and ‘Pyramid’ from that set are getting a 12” release of their own on Four Tet’s very own Text imprint. Take a listen above and look out for the pre-order.
