Big Ticket Giveaway!

Thanks to our friends The Line of Best Fit for announcing our competition yesterday. Here’s how they eloquently explained the comp and how to enter on our FACEBOOK:

In the spirit of good will and togetherness our buddies over at Eat Your Own Ears want  you to tell a friend / potential life partner / family member / stranger about a gig you’d like to take them to this Autumn.

All you need to do is ‘tag’ your chosen friend on Eat Your Own Ears Facebook wall and invite them to one of the gigs below. Rave about a band, complain about how you haven’t seen them for months, or ask them out on an intimate date to watch the sweet and calming sounds of Iceage (pictured above).

We will cherry pick the best invites over the next week or so and give away a pair of tickets per day! Easy. Yes?

So, the following shows are eligible for the competition. (All concerts listed are taking place in London. For more details visit: www.eatyourownears.com/events)

New Sounds: Eagulls + Dauwd

Eagulls

These guys aren’t exactly brand new but we wanted to spotlight them ahead of their show with Fucked Up next week anyway because they are hitting a stride at the moment and well worth checking out live. For now, listen to ‘Possessed’:

Dauwd

Producer Dauwd (pictured, above) has been blowing up slowly for a few months too. The penny is dropping with his latest (and greatest) hitting the likes of Fluokids and The Fader as well as some support from Boiler Room. Listen to the new single:

This Week’s Gigs

Good Monday morning to you. Welcome to another regular EYOE feature on the blog where we take a look at the gigs we have coming up this week. This week’s these is ‘sold out’ as happily (or unhappily for those who missed out) all of our shows this week are sold out. We’re still going to take a look and get excited though. Those of you looking for our next shows with tickets it’s Fucked Up and Zulu Winter next week.

First up…

Baxter Drury + The Spivs – Tuesday – Hoxton Bar and Kitchen

Baxter Drury’s ‘Happy Soup’ record has been one of our surprise favourites of the year, full of charm and pop hooks. We’re looking forward to seeing him at this well sold out show at Hoxton B + K.

Tribes + Dog is Dead – Friday – Electric Ballroom

B ig summer for Tribes who have emerged as geniune pop contenders, and we expect much more of the same next year, but for now we’ll be content to see them to a packed Camden audience belatedly celebrating the release of their recent ‘When My Day Comes’ EP.

Anna Calvi + Halloween, Alaska – Concorde 2, Brighton

This next set of (sold out) dates for Anna Calvi feels like a lap of honour. At every step this year she’s blown us away live with her huge, epic songs and amazing guitar chops. London has it’s turn next Tuesday (1st).

Inaugural Eat Your Own Ears pub quiz

We will be holding the first ever Eat Your Own Ears pub quiz on Wednesday the 2nd of November, in The Shacklewell Arms at 8.30pm.

Come test your general knowledge over a Golden Dragon Orange Pippin and a pie.

Ex scientia vera.

Duologue Mix for Eat Your Own Ears

Those fine people in Duologue have made us a mix ahead of their two shows with us over the next couple of months. One of those is the 3rd of November (with Throwing Snow) and one on the 8th of December with Patten. Details on the website. But for now, check out this excellent mix they have made for us (helping us get through Friday). It features everything from Bon Iver, Zomby and EYOE faves Caribou.
