A very busy week at EYOE towers with 8 shows this week (even though there are only 7 days in a week). Of those shows only two of them have tickets still available so much of this preview will be academic to some of you.
Loney Dear + NZCA/LINES (MON) + Air Castles (WEDS) – St. Pancras Old Church – Monday/Wednesday.
A special double bill for a special artist. The nights are themed into two colours – Blue and Green, two of pop musics most prized hues. Both shows are SOLD OUT.
Zola Jesus+ EMA – Heaven – Wednesday
After a massive show for us earlier in the year – and an excellent turn at Field Day – the goth songstress returns, with the brilliant EMA in tow this time. Two of our favourite artists of the year, this one is unmissable.
The Dø – Hoxton Bar and Kitchen – Wednesday
This eclectic French/Finnish band are already absolutely huge in Europe and are invading the shores of the UK on a pop voyage. Their album hit number one in France recently and these guys could be a sneaky tip for 2012. SOLD OUT.
Casiokids – Shacklewell Arms – Thursday
No week would be complete without a ridiculously buzzy show at the Shacklewell Arms it seems. This week it’s the turn of Scandinavian pop band Casiokids. Last time we saw them they were on tour with Of Montreal. This time their stuff is ready to hold its own and we can’t wait.
Olof Arnalds – St. Pancras Old Church – Thursday/Friday
Completing a bit of an EYOE takeover at St. Pancras Church this week is the amazing Olof Arnalds – a firm favourite of ours. A former member of Múm and others her stuff is perfect autumn music – cold, brisk and enchanting. SOLD OUT.
BLACKOUT – Barbican – Thursday
Eat Your Own Ears curate Blackout Sessions, one of two stages at Off Modern Late open until 1am. Blackout Sessions, run by Late of The Pier’s Sam Potter, are gigs in which the bands play in complete darkness. With the line up kept secret Blackout Sessions provide a unique opportunity for an audience, a chance to experience live music free from expectations and preconceptions.
As part of the OMA/Progress exhibition curated by Rotor at Barbican Art Gallery, Off Modern presents an night of sound, visuals and performances by artists, filmmakers, designers and musicians engaged in deconstructing the spatial experience and architecture of the Barbican, and mapping futuristic scenarios. The event will take place in the Barbican Foyers and Art Gallery, as well as its labyrinthine corridors and public spaces, inside and out.
