This Week’s Gigs

Junioy Boys – Monday – Concrete (SOLD OUT)

A ny follower of our twitter account (@eatyourownears – shameless plug) will know that Banana Ripple is one of our very favourite songs of the year. It may be around ten minutes but we find repeat plays totally rewarding. It’ll be a late 2011 treat to catch it in the flesh.

Korallreven – Monday – Shacklewell Arms

Korallreven are another year favourite and we are very excited to be showcasing their very first UK show. The show comes complete with video from the excellent Jamie Harley and should be a recipe for a trip down summer lane for any of you like us who lived in this music earlier in the year.

FAMY – Monday – Victoria Dalston

From two 2011 favourites to a band sure to be one of our 2012 faves – FAMY celebrate their recent single in Dalston tonight. They will be joined by some very special guests indeed. They go under the name The Honkies tonight…

Zulu Winter

O ne of our favourite recent discoveries we really think 2012 could be their year. Their debut single ‘Let’s Move Back To Front/Never Leave’ out on Double Denim Records is a pretty big mission statement. Check out this exclusive interview they gave to Field Day recently:

Hello, Zulu Winter – please tell us a bit about you for the uninitiated?

We’re five dudes making interesting pop music in London. Been doing a while and will be doing it a while longer. Our blog is a good place to find out what we’re all about, what we like etc.

You have a debut record out next April, what’s it sounding like?

Good hopefully! We hope it’s full of pop gems with beautiful melodies, atmospheres, textures and grooves… We’re working hard to make a record that sounds great on first listen but can also grow in stature with repeated listens. There’s a lot going on in the songs that you may not hear on the first listen but that you can dig into on repeated listens.

Have you been to Field Day before?

We sure have. You can always count on Field Day for an eclectic line up. A great day for sure as long as you can handle a ridiculous amount of wayfarers and scarily tight denim shorts… These will be found on both the boys and girls!

Everybody is talking records of the year and tips for next year – what are yours?

I’ve been grooving to Salve Ambient by War On Drugs, Days by real Estate, Atlas Sound, Tuneyards and St. Vincent…
Apart from that I don’t feel it’s been the greatest year for music I don’t reckon but have a feeling next year will be much better! Us aside… I’m looking forward to Outfit’s record and Braids new record. Hopefully they’ll both see the light of day next year.

Finally, we love your blog. You seem like well-read chaps. What other sites are in the bookmarks for you guys?

Thanks!

Outfit

W e hosted Outfit recently at Cargo and were blown away again by a very tight unit and one that takes left turns wherever possible. In ‘Two Islands’ they already have a set ender that blows the roof off. We’re excited to see what’s next for Outfit, we suspect big things. Check out that first single below, and a mix they made for Field Day.

Video: Spector – What You Wanted

We are thrilled to announce Spector at the 100 Club on the 1st of March. It’s pretty tight in there so this one is definitely going to go off. If you can’t wait until then watch Spector define Efes-Pop in the above video.

Kindness

Kindness has been going for a little while now, bubbling just below the surface – anyone who has heard his spectral pop songs know that this guy has a special something to him.

We loved ‘Cyan’ a 12” he released over the summer and recent he streamed a new song SOED. Take a listen to that on Pitchfork and join us in eagerly awaiting an album.
