We are pleased to announce that the Temper Trap return for an intimate 3 night residency at Oslo.
SOLD OUT
We are thrilled to announce that Brooklyn based girl-band TEEN, will be playing the Lexington this July.
Any great band evolves. And so even though TEEN had certainly made some excellent, acclaimed music in their first few years of existence, they knew they were still discovering their voice — in more than one sense of the word.
TEEN have found that voice on their brilliant second album, The Way and Color, one reason why it’s such a stunning creative breakthrough. Singer-multi-instrumentalist Teeny Lieberson’s voice is starkly highlighted, but the whole album is a conversation between Katherine Lieberson’s crafty, minimalist drumming, Boshra AlSaadi’s lithe, sinuous bass lines, and Lizzie Lieberson’s irresistible synth hooks. The music is filled with overlapping countermelodies of vocals and synth lines; even Katherine’s drums are hooky, so that the songs become ingenious interlocking sonic mantras. Imagine an integration of playfully off-balance rhythms and orchestrated dissonance, spaciously filtered through TEEN’s distinctive musical vision. And listen closely: the tracks are filigreed with all kinds of fascinating events buried deep in the mix.
Teeny played keyboards and sang in Here We Go Magic before founding TEEN in 2010. She self-recorded and self-released the beguiling lo-fi Little Doods EP the following year, then formed a band that included Katherine and Lizzie (yes, they’re all sisters), and signed to Carpark for 2012′s In Limbo. Produced by Sonic Boom (Spectrum, Spacemen 3), In Limbo encompassed trancey but kinetic pop and sprawling, ethereal ballads, and everything in between. Rolling Stone listed its opening track “Better” as one of the “50 Best Songs of 2012.” The Carolina EP followed in 2013 and it was even more varied and accomplished; the band was growing by breathtaking leaps and bounds. But in retrospect, it was all prologue for the remarkable The Way and Color.
The Way and Color has its share of darkness — fear, regret, and loss are all in the picture — but it’s always redeemed by the sheer soulfulness and powerful ingenuity of the music, and the way Teeny always sings even the darkest lyrics with rhythmic and melodic daring. Listen to the way “Rose 4 U” only gets more triumphant when things go bad, or how a stately horn coda transcends the sorrowful mood of “All the Same.” “We’re living in a really aggressive time, a not very thoughtful time,” says Teeny. “And when I finally listened to the album all the way through, I felt proud that we made something that made me feel uplifted. I hope this music will make people feel some happiness and joy.”
The Way and Color does sometimes recall the sound of post-millennial R&B, but, more importantly, TEEN itself embodies one of that era’s signature features: bold, visionary, female musicians. It’s intelligent, heartfelt music, artfully expressed in TEEN’s singular voice.

PLUS SUPPORT FROM MYSTYRYS
MYSTYRYS write uniquely urgent, intricate songs that clash 60’s harmonies and dreamlike melodies against ornate, dynamic drums and jarring guitar. Bound by a mutual love of obscure Oakland trio Natural Dreamers, Adam Slater (guitar/vocals) and Sagar Patel (drums) took refuge in a series of divey London rehearsal spaces, quickly amassing a body of material just slightly the wrong side of discernible. Jon Clifford (bass/vocals) joined soon afterwards and provided an anchor for the band’s developing sound. With the personnel settled, the band gradually evolved to incorporate the psyche of art rock bands such as Women, the raw immediacy of early Liars and the baroque post-punk of Red Krayola.
With a number of releases out on their own label Psychic Healing Network, the debut album will be out late 2014.
Tickets on sale here.

Premiered by FADER, the visual for “Mandarin Oranges Part 2” is the first official video taken from Little Simz’ eagerly anticipated debut EP set for release late spring. Shot in Venice Beach and the Los Angeles river, the video from the North London hailing rising superstar sets the tone for the forthcoming EP as she takes you on an honest journey into her world, life and growth.
F**ked Up play the Scala in June, after releasing their new album Glass Boys.
RAMONA LISA is the current side-project alias of CHAIRLIFT‘s Caroline Polachek. Over the past year she has been performing as Ramona Lisa in New York unannounced, incognito, with fully choreographed and costumed sets.
Arcadia is Polachek’s first self-produced solo record. Completely composed in MIDI, it is a concept album of love songs that are nature allegories, and vice versa, which Polachek calls “Pastoral Electronic Music”.
The making of Arcadia was a year-long process that began and ended in an empty studio in Rome’s Villa Medici and while on tour with her band, Chairlift. The record was made entirely on a laptop without instruments or external microphones — all vocals were sung directly into the computer, making use of hotel closets, quiet airport gates, and spare dressing rooms.
Although the album was created in a non-space, the result is a lush and uncannily tangible world of warm textures, reminiscent of analog tape processes rather than a hard drive. Virtual oboes and organs interweave with synthetic insects and quivering sine waves, animated by Polachek’s vocal at it’s most delirious and intimate yet.

This year, Field Day festival is looking to host it’s biggest and best weekend since its inauguration in 2007, and to make the prospect even more exciting the organisers have just announced the special Field Day After Party, which will be taking place after the main event finishes on Saturday 7th June.
The Field Day After Party will be held at Oval Space, which is just a 15-minute walk from the festival site. Oval Space is a 5000 square foot warehouse space that boasts two terraces and a large dance floor that is a perfect spot for Field Day revellers who want to continue the party from Saturday night to the wee hours of Sunday morning.
The line up that has been curated for the after party consists of some of the line-ups highlights from the Saturday at Victoria Park, first of all headlined by the Innervisions duo Âme. As a spearhead of the Innervisions label with partner Dixon, Âme are at the forefront of todays cutting edge house and techno that will no doubt be helping carry dancers through the night with feet moving and fists pumping. Also on the line up are Jackmaster, Daniel Avery, Gerd Janson and Moxie, a combination that completes the Field Day After Party line up that we think you’ll agree is mouth watering.
Field Day is delighted to announce the first set of acts for Field Day Saturday 7th June:
Metronomy/ Daniel Avery/ Danny Brown/ Dusky/ George Fitzgerald/ Innervisions: Dixon & Ame / James Holden – live/ Jessy Lanza/ John Wizards/ Jon Hopkins/ Omar Souleyman/ Oneohtrix Point Never/ Seun Kuti & Fela’s Egypt 80/ Sky Ferreira/ The Temper Trap/ Warpaint… plus many more to announce soon
To headline the main stage on the Saturday, Field Day will be warmly welcoming back melancholic electronica masters Metronomy. Spring 2014 sees their highly awaited return with their brilliant new album ‘Love Letters’. Two years have passed since they last played Field Day and since we heard any new music, and we literally can’t wait to have them at Field Day again!
