GHOST CULTURE

SPECIAL GUESTS
The Waiting Room
Wednesday 3 September 2014
Sold Out

Eat Your Own Ears are excited to announce that Ghost Culture’s LIVE show debut will be held at The Waiting Room, Stoke Newington on September 3rd.

Ghost Culture’s first two singles – Mouth and Giudecca, both released on Phantasy Sound – were infectious pieces of circuit board-frazzled, club-informed pop music that won us over in a big way.

If new single Arms is anything to go by, Ghost Culture is building up a neat little catalogue of songs. It’s essentially a song of two halves: the first is a neat, melodic pop song with almost-spoken vocals (and lyrics that nod to his duo of tracks, Half Closed/Half Open) that, in its second half, melts into a goo of acid basslines, Detroit-style pads, and rapidfire drum programming.

This show is now sold out.

Erland and the Carnival return with an intimate show at the Servant Jazz Quarters.

SOLD OUT

When unassuming young Orkney music-maker Erland Cooper picked up his guitar and travelled the length of the country to play a show in London’s Notting Hill, little did he know that a chance encounter with musical veteran Simon Tong (The Verve, The Good The Bad & The Queen, and Gorillaz) would be the start of a unique songwriting friendship. Together they formed Erland & The Carnival and now, nearly a decade later, arrives Closing Time – the band’s third, most accomplished album yet.

“Closing Time doesn’t mark the beginning of the end; rather it marks an end to permit a new beginning,” explains Erland. “When Summer dies it’s to let winter in, then spring opens it up again; it has to happen. It’s enjoyable when you accept that you have a limited time to make things happen to the best of your ability.”

Opening a new chapter, Closing Time is an understated, inward looking collection of songs that feature stunning string arrangements and Erland’s impassioned vocals at centre stage. But rather than the modern folk adaptations of traditional songs, children’s poems, and ancient literature on the band’s earlier albums or the pair’s recent conceptual folklore project The Magnetic North, this time the band tell tales of a more personal nature.

CHARLOTTEOC.COM

After her packed out performance at the Shacklewell Arms tent at Field Day a few weeks ago, we are thrilled to announce that the brilliant Charlotte OC will be playing the Sebright Arms this August.

Charlotte OC ‘s anthem Colour My Heart is four and a half minutes of modern pop perfection – huge melodies, slyly experimental production and plenty of heart too. She’s now signed to Stranger Records, a home to similarly classic sounding pop acts like Lana Del Rey and bass legend Charlie Jones.

You can watch her video for Colour My Heart here.

This show is now sold out.

Eat Your Own Ears are excited to present The Basics at The Shacklewell Arms this July.

The Basics  are a three-piece band from Melbourne, Australia, formed by Wally De Backer (Gotye) and Kris Schroeder in 2002, later joined by Tim Heath.

Their style has been described as anything from ‘indie-pop’ to ‘rock’n’roll’ to ‘pop-rock’, though their records show they span a wide range of genres, including reggae, ska, country, and electro-pop.
