Montero is artist and musician Ben Montero.

Montero operates in the rich widescreen soft rock tradi- tion, updating the romantic classicism of golden era love songs with a psychedelic pop brush. Montero’s music evokes the extended soundscapes and textures of 70s prog, the easy listening adult weirdness of Jimmy Webb and Burt Bacharach, and the sports arena pounding of vintage MOR rock – sometimes all in the space of one song. With an emphasis on clear vocals, soaring melodies, lush instrumentation and dreamy glam pomp, Montero ven- tures into gently surreal realms of romance, yearning, and wonder.

As a visual artist, Ben’s comic-based style highlights the universality of small human moments via a cast of furry (or sometimes slimy) friends. His art has graced album covers, t-shirts and posters for Mac Demarco, Ariel Pink, Kurt Vile, Pond and others. He draws a regular comic for the Vice website.

New music from Montero is due later in the year on Chapter Music, co-produced with Jay Watson of Pond/Tame Impala and Grammy Award winning engineer Riccardo Damian, recorded at Mark Ronson’s London studio.

We’re happy to announce Charles Howl will be playing at The Brewhousein November!

Enthralled by soundtracks and pop music in all its forms, Howl updates classic motifs to create a signature aesthetic. Introducing strings and lush orchestration to dazzling effect, he is comfortable with both wide-open song structures and intimate headphone tracks. With this album Howl reveals his true talent as a songwriter and arranger, mixing well-crafted storytelling with a dry wit, it is also more ambitious, touching on themes of idol worship, friends and the family unit.
